POLYETHYLENE, SHRINK FILM

A lot of people do not imagine, how many types of polyethylene film is called with one generic name. To submit most optimal solution for our clients, first of all we find which material is appropriate to use and than we are offering the best offer depending on needs and price. These days, technologies let us to produce similar products from every type of material, but there will be deference with gloss, durability and esthetic view.

LDPE film – cheapest and the most common material, used for protection, covering products from dusts and humidity, also LDPE is used to produce bags and greenhouse films.

MDPE film has impact and tear resistant characteristics. It is less sensitive for cuts and cracks than HDPE. MDPE is usually used to produce bags and shrink film, where better resistance is needed, when packing products has sharp edges.

HDPE film can be very thin if it is used with products that do not have sharp edges and they are covered. Bags, made from HDPE, will be strong, but not that clear (transparent), sensible for cracking.

Depending on every customers needs, we are supplying products in various dimensions, thickness, transparent or in wide range of colors. Also perforated, labeled, printed, in various folding shapes – tapes, half-sleeve or sleeve. As well as different final products: bags, “T-shirt” bags, garbage bags, covers for pallets, hoods, warning tapes, shrink films and etc.

Shrink films

Shrink film is classified by raw materials. There are four main raw materials from which shrink films is produced: PVC, POF, PE, PP. Other is less used compositions.

Depending on machine in use, correct film’s bending needed as well as to  know other important specifications as slipperiness, thickness, resistance, does the UV stabilization, perforation, overprint is needed.

PVC and POF shrinkable films can be very thin, clear and looks great when wrapped.

PVC1

PVC shrinkable film is very sensitive for temperature, it can crack or tear in cold temperature or “shrink back”, loosen in too hot place, if it will be stored for too long time. Color can also get darker, turn yellowish, when film is stored in not cooled place or in direct sunlight.

To reach best aesthetic look with POF film it is required to release air (perforated holes in film) when shrinking. This is not necessary for PVC film shrinking, because PVC has small holes in sealing areas. But PVC film in sealed areas becomes more sensitive for tearing.

POF film shrinking procedure demanding more attention, it needs to accurately apply temperature, heating time and equally distribute air flows, because there must be an air bubble between product and shrink, to make it not to stick to the product. That is why, for POF film more advanced shrink tunnels with constant temperature control and distributed air flow it is required. Meanwhile PVC shrink film does not require such precision.

thermo PE

Third part – shrinkable polyethylene (PE) differs from the first two. It is not equal with its gloss, thinness and transparency. However, this is the cheapest packing solution, that’s why it is widely used for heavy and big sized goods group, like mineral water bottles packing.

One of the popular PP raw material products, OPP and BOPP films, used for food packing and industrial goods wrapping. These films excellently melts so for labels production, no additional glue is needed.

opp1

PP shrink film have specific steadiness and transparency. Food packed with this film is clearly visible and looks esthetic. Onto this film it is possible to use high quality prints. PP is excellent choice for food, pharmaceutical  and other industrial goods packing.
